The Yuengling snow promotions in Philly continue to wrap up, and last week we were at Fox and Hound enjoying a few Yuengling’s on a Thursday night! Patrons got to sample the Light Lager brand while enjoying the evening and waiting for their chance to win some great Yuengling prizes. After the entry bin was full, it was time to start selecting some winners. Prizes for the evening included an overnight stay at the Split Rock Lodge, a Yuengling Snowboard, and lift tickets to Jack Frost Big Boulder!

Everyone enjoyed the event, especially the Light Lager samples! If you are a Yuengling fan in the Philadelphia area, you can stop in to Fox & Hound on Tuesdays when all draughts are just $2.00 and Wednesdays for $2.00 Lager draughts from 11am-7pm. The Bard's Irish Pub in Philadelphia hosted a recent Yuengling Ski Promo. The event was held on Tuesday February 15th and the bar was crowded with Tuesday night dart league players. Players enjoyed $3.00 Lager pints and $2.50 Light Lager bottles throughout the evening. Grand prizes for the night included a Yuengling Snowboard, JFBB lift tickets, and a weekend stay a Split Rock Lodge in the Poconos.

Patrons at the Landmark Americana in Glassboro, NJ recently took part in the The Yuengling Growler Cup Wing Off Challenge! This competition featured Wednesday night wing eating contests each week to name 6 contenders for the finale event that was held in early February. Patrons enjoyed Yuengs & Wings Specials each week while they watched the participants attempt to get a spot in the finale event.

All of the competitors brought their A game to the table when it was time to award the Growler Cup on February 2. The contest was base on speed and the first competitor to eat 20 wings would be awarded the cup. In the end it was “Mick the Brick” who was named champion with a winning time of 2 minutes and 43 seconds! For his efforts Mick was awarded The Yuengling Growler Cup Trophy and a Yuengling snowboard. He also won an overnight stay at the Split Rock Resort in the Poconos and lift tickets for Jack Frost Big Boulder ski area.

TAMAQUA BEER DINNER

The Restaurant at the Station in Tamaqua, PA recently held their annual Yuengling beer pairing dinner. The chef at The Restaurant prepared a fantastic four course feast, pairing each course with an appropriate product from the Yuengling portfolio. The appetizer was Crab Pretzel with Balsamic Glaze; this was paired with Lord Chesterfield Ale. Following the appetizer, guests enjoyed Black & White Cheddar Cheese & Black Bean Soup paired with Black & Tan. The entrée for the evening was Grilled Portobello stuffed with Sausage and Hot German Potato Salad. This dish was paired with Traditional Lager. For those guests who saved room for dessert, the offering was a Deep Fried Brownies Supreme paired with Yuengling Seasonal Bock Beer.

All of the courses were fantastic. In addition to the great food, Yuengling Lead Brewer John Callahan was on hand to discuss the Yuengling portfolio with guests. John explained the unique characteristics of each brew. Thank you to all of the guests who came out to join us for this sold out event. Temple University basketball fans filled the Draught Horse Pub after the game on February 5, 2011. The Yuengling team was out for the night too with plenty of giveaways to go along with the Yuengling specials! Several fans in attendance won Jack Frost Big Boulder lift tickets and one lucky patron won a 2 nights stay at the Split Rock Lodge in the Poconos! The drink special for this event was $2.00 Lager pints, Lord Chesterfield Ale pints, and Light Lager bottles. This is a great price feature that Draught Horse runs every Saturday and plenty of Temple students enjoy.

Draught Horse is located on Cecil B. Moore Avenue right off of Broad Street in the heart of the Temple University campus. The Yuengling team at our wholesale partner Hub City in NJ is certainly busy spreading the word about Bock Beer. Bock is available at many retail outlets, and spigots are popping up for a limited time at bars and taverns too! Earlier in the month we held a Bock sampling at Geraghty's Pub in Burlington, NJ to celebrate the return of Bock season. The event was held from 6-9pm and the turn out was good, especially considering that patrons had to brave the weather to come join us. Fans enjoyed Bock served in retro styled pilsner glasses. Giveaways for the evening included Bock hats and tees.

IRON HORSE BOCK LAUNCH

The Yuengling team in Washington D.C. recently kicked off Bock Season with the Friday night crowd at the Iron Horse Tap Room! Iron Horse offered patrons $3.00 Bock pints from 4-10pm and the bartenders were extremely busy all night keeping the Bock Beer flowing. In fact, when it was all said and done, Iron Horse when through 7 quarter barrels of Bock just during this promotion! D.C. Lager fans were excited to try Yuengling’s seasonal offering and enjoyed the rich taste that Bock Beer embodies. This special event was sponsored by GoFivo, a new website and mobile app that allows D.C. consumers to receive messages about special events throughout the city. As an added bonus, GoFivo members received Bock Beer hats with their first pint.

Blue Mountain Ski Area in Palmerton, PA held their third annual Yuengling Day Sunday January 16, 2011. The weather was perfect and skiers and snowboarders certainly took advantage of this opportunity to hit the slopes. Inside, the lodge was just as crowded as the mountain, with patrons warming up and enjoying each others company. There was a large crowd at the bar taking advantage of the Yuengling Lord Chesterfield Ale specials being offered. The promotion ran from noon to 5:00 p.m and patrons received Yuengling snow gear as prizes to keep them warm on the slopes. Giveaways included long sleeve tees, fleece headbands, winter hats, and the grand prize of a Yuengling Snowboard!

Fans who attended this event had a great time enjoying the music and winning Yuengling prizes throughout the day. The snowboard was won by a Yuengling fan named Carolyn from New Jersey.

Thank you to everyone who came out to this event. There are several more Yuengling Happy Hours scheduled at Blue Mountain Ski Area. The next one will be held Friday January 28th, 2011. OUTBACK BOWL TAILGATE

College Football fans flooded into the Tampa, FL earlier this month to watch the Gators and the Lions go head to head in the Outback Bowl. The PSU pregame party was held outside of the Outback Bowl and featured Lager & Light Lager draught. It was only fitting that the Pennsylvania brews be served at this great gathering of PSU students and alumni! Yuengling's Tampa Brew Master, John Houseman was on hand for this party as well. Fans enjoyed talking to John about brewing Yuengling beer and they were sure to compliment him on a continued job well done brewing at the Tampa plant! Everyone enjoyed traditional tailgate dishes as they anticipated the upcoming game. While the results of the game did not go in their favor, many fans from up north were just glad for the chance to escape the winter temperatures and enjoy the Florida sun! The Yuengling crew in Tampa would like to thank everyone who came out to the Open House while they were in town for the Outback Bowl last week. There was a great showing of both Florida and PSU fans at the brewery. Yuengling conducted tours throughout the day and in addition to learning about America's Oldest Brewery, visitors enjoyed free samples at the end! Alumni and students from both schools who were shopping for Yuengling gear at this special event also received 10% off in the Gift Shop with their IDs. Yuengling Bock Beer is returning to the marketplace for a limited time beginning in February 2011! This much anticipated seasonal offering from Yuengling was initially brought back in honor of our 180th Anniversary and has been a great success since it was introduced in 2009.

Yuengling's Facebook Fan page (D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc.) is currently at 47,000 'Likes' and we would like to see that number grow this January. We know that there are Yuengling fans all over Facebook that would love to help, and to reward fans we are going to give away a Yuengling Bock Beer prize pack once the Facebook page reaches 50,000. The Draught Horse recently teamed up with Philly Beer Scene Magazine and DrinkPhilly.com to bring patrons the Yuengling Homebrew Contest! This contest was held on Tuesday December 7th and featured a panel of industry expert judges including Jennifer Yuengling and also Matt Falco from Philly Beer Scene Magazine. There were 14 entries in the contest where homebrewers put forth their best Brown Ale for the judges to review. The top 5 brewers were awarded prize packs for their hard work.

The crowd enjoyed $2.00 pints of Lager, Lord Chesterfield Ale, and Porter while they awaited the results of the contest. Light Lager bottles were also on special for this event for only $2.50. At this event patrons had the opportunity to sign up for the Chesterfield Society as well. Yuengling joined over 50 other local, regional, and international breweries at the 19th Annual Great Brews Classic Beer Festival this past weekend. This two day festival is held at Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony, PA. Festival goers flowed in and out of three large sampling rooms where they enjoyed live music from Toga Party, Table Ten, and a Pair of Nuts. There were food and clothing vendors on site as well. At the Yuengling table, fans had their choice of Light Lager, Lord Chesterfield Ale, Dark Brewed Porter, and Original Black & Tan. Yuengling Awards 2 Orange County Choppers™, donates over $50,000 to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

Pottsville, PA, November 5, 2010 – D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc., America’s Oldest Brewery, recently held an event at Orange County Chopper™ headquarters to award one consumer and one wholesaler sales representative the prize of a lifetime.

From May through August, 2010, throughout the 13 states where Yuengling is sold, Yuengling and OCC™ fans 21 and older entered to become semi-finalists for a custom Yuengling Chopper, made by OCC™. Over 38,000 consumers entered the program via text-to-win format. 95 were randomly selected to become semi-finalists, and along with their guests, were treated to a weekend celebration at OCC™ Headquarters in Newburgh, NY, on October 23rd, 2010.

In addition, 30 wholesaler personnel and guests were invited to attend the event, based upon sales merit. A second, identical chopper would eventually be awarded to one lucky sales representative.

“The affiliation with Orange County Choppers™ certainly garnered a great deal of attention all summer,” stated Lou Romano, Marketing Manager for Yuengling. “Although only one semi-finalist and one sales representative would win a chopper, the goal was to give everyone a memorable weekend, and also to help benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.”

During the program, the Yuengling Brewery and several wholesalers committed to donate a portion of their sales to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Radio stations also organized local events to raise money, and a raffle for various Yuengling memorabilia was held at the OCC™ Event.

“With the help of many, we were able to raise over $53,500 to help benefit a cause we all believe in,” commented Romano.

The evening culminated when Dick Yuengling, president and owner of Yuengling, randomly selected Eric Ward of Mid State Beverage (Williamsport, PA) as the wholesaler winner, and Michael Euless, of Franklin, PA, as the lucky consumer winner of the custom choppers.

“Awarding those choppers was an exciting moment for me, and I really enjoyed spending time with everyone who came,” said Dick Yuengling. “It was a once in a lifetime event!”

HITTING THE TRAIL 2010

The 2nd Annual Preston Silver Eagle horseback ride took place at the Peddicord Family Ranch this October. The Peddicord family is a Yuengling wholesale partner in West Virginia, and each year they invite employees, Yuengling friends, and neighboring wholesalers out for a guided horseback ride in the hills of West Virginia. This year they hosted a group of around 50. The weather was excellent for this outdoor event that features games and music in addition to the ride. Attendees enjoyed a variety of food at the barbecue cookout along with a great selection of Yuengling beer throughout the day. This annual event is a great way for key Yuengling supporters and retailers in the Preston County area to get together and enjoy this great state! Maroons Sports Bar in Pottsville, PA will be hosting a Chesterfield Society Party this Friday, October 22, 2010! Proud Eagle Distributing and Yuengling teamed up in conjunction with the Charleston Capitol Street Market and Volvo for a recent fundraiser. The Capitol Market Mixer was held on the evening of October 6th to help raise money for the market's non profit organization. The organization helps maintain and grow the fresh produce market on Capitol Street in Charleston, WV. Attendees enjoyed samples of Yuengling Lager, Light Lager, and Black & Tan. In addition, food from several local chefs and artisans were sampled as attendees perused the market place.

This event was as great chance for Charleston residents to sample dishes from Charleston’s elite restaurateurs and chefs to help raise money to help grow and expand the Market Street Market a Non Profit organization. Thank you to everyone who came out!

Yuengling was recently sampled at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford alumni weekend event. 2010 was the first year that the university has incorporated a beer tasting into this event and Yuengling was proud to be the exclusive brewery of choice. This event is hosted by Garage 71 Radio and will take place in Buford, GA on 10-30-10 from 12-6pm. Yuengling will be sampling several of our brews at the event, along with other local and national breweries. There will be live music throughout the day ranging from Thrash Grass to Rockabilly. There will also be several contests including a Pin-Up model contest, tattoo contest, and the Hot Rod and Bike Show hosted by the Church of Chop. The Yuengling team in Suwanee, Georgia was proud to participate as a sponsor of the 2010 Operation One Voice Golf Invitational. The tournament was held on August 18th at Bear's Best in Suwanee. Football fans in West Virginia were treated to the Max-imum tailgate party recently thanks to Re-Max and Clear Channel Radio in Huntington, WV. Football fans gathered at BB&T Bank, right next to the Marshall football stadium before the WVU - Marshall game on September 10th for this event. Everyone was dressed in team colors and excited for kick off! Fans enjoyed food provided by local restaurants including Giovanni's Pizza, Buddy’s BBQ, and Moe’s Mexican Grill. The 5th Annual Big Ten Pub Crawl was a great success in the Atlanta, GA market this summer! This annual event started at 3pm on Saturday August 21, 2010 and included stops at 10 different hot spots in the area. There were 1,264 participants at this years event proudly wearing school colors representing their Alma maters. Alumni from Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State were out in full force with over 150 participants representing each school!

Yuengling was the drink of choice at the 10 bars we visited and fans received some great Yuengling and Big Ten giveaways. The event raised a total of $14,000 that was donated to Bert's Big Adventure, a local charity that takes terminally ill children and their families to Disney World. Some stories are long, some are short, some are funny, and some are sentimental. They’re all fun to listen to, which is why we’re creating a website where these Yuengling stories can come to life. That’s where you come in. We’d like you to e-mail your classic Yuengling stories to classiclagerstories@yuengling.com between now and December 31, 2010, for us to put on the new website when it launches next year.

Your story can be anything at all that involves Yuengling Lager or another Yuengling beer. Was it the first time you had a Lager many years ago or something funny that happened while you were enjoying a few Lagers with a friend just last week? Yuengling fans in West Virginia joined us for some great food and great beer at the 15th Annual Huntington Rib and Music Festival last month. The 3 day festival featured performances by Travis Tritt, The Marshal Tucker Band, and Molly Hatchet. Fans enjoyed ribs from a variety of different vendors along with Yuengling products served at all 8 beer tents and in the VIP tent as well. The ribs take center stage at this event, and prizes are awarded annually for Best Ribs, Best Sauce, and People's Choice. You can see below that the vendors proudly display the banners that identify them as winners from years past. In addition to the rib competition and music, fans enjoy a car show, a bike show, a cornhole tournament, and plenty of activities for the kids.

Yuengling teamed up with our wholesale partner LaGrange Grocery in the Georgia to host the 1st Annual Yuengling Open in this market. We invited wholesalers from throughout the state as well as Yuengling retailers to come enjoy 18 holes at the Overlook Golf Links in La Grange, GA. Attendees had a great day for golf, and each foursome got to play with a professional golfer from the NGA Hooters Tour. Yuengling products were enjoyed both on the course and in the clubhouse after play was finished for the day. Teams received Yuengling prizes for their efforts on the course as well.

This tournament was a great opportunity to bring Yuengling retailers together and proceeds from the event went to support Chattahoochee Hospice, a local charity. As reported yesterday, the OCC program that Yuengling ran this summer helped contribute to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. We would like to thank our wholesale partner Gold Coast Beverage in Southern Florida for their $3,000 contribution to the fund! Over the 2 month period that they ran the OCC program, Gold Coast saw an increase of nearly 30,000 cases of Yuengling beer in their 4 county distribution area. To reward their staff for a job well done, they held a company party where 2 lucky employees were selected to take a trip to Newburgh, NY for the Yuengling OCC party that will be held this fall. Yuengling's partnership with Orange County Choppers took center stage this summer at many retail outlets up and down the east coast. The program gave Yuengling fans the chance to enter to win a custom Yuengling OCC Chopper. In addition to this great opportunity, the program benefited the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The Fund provides support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. Yuengling will be donating to the fund, and we encouraged our wholesale partners to help in the fundraising efforts as well.

Citizens of Morgantown, West Virginia gathered together for a few laughs and some great beer recently! Partnering with our local distributor, Mona Supply, Yuengling sampled product at this local fundraising event called the Brew Ha Ha. The event featured stand up comedians Jeffrey Jena, Joe Zimmerman, and headliner Andy Pitz performing live on High Street in downtown Morgantown. Yuengling recently attended the annual Hops, Vines & Wines Festival in Selinsgrove, PA. This festival is located in the center of the keystone state, and the majority of breweries sampling operate right here in Pennsylvania. This years event saw a crowd of 1500 people who came out on a sizzling Saturday in July to sample a variety of beer, wine, and food. Attendees were entertained throughout the 4 hour event by the PA Crude Blues Band.

Yuengling recently participated as a sponsor of the 1st Annual Greenbrier PGA Classic tournament in White Sulphur Springs, WV. PGA golfers from around the world traveled to West Virginia to compete in this Fed Ex points event at the Greenbrier Resort. Competitors included Stewart Applebee, Sergio Garcia, John Daily, Davis Love III, Jim Furyk and more!

The Greenbrier is an award winning resort founded in 1778 and actually has 4 championship golf courses on the property! Jim Justice acquired the resort in 2009 and felt that since the first lynx course in America was on the Greenbrier property, it was time to return to the grass roots of what made not only this resort famous but also to give back to the community. This event was also a great opportunity to show the rest of the world this hidden gem in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia. Mr. Justice made sure that attendees of the event were entertained nightly by booking national music acts for a series of concerts throughout the event. Yuengling was the Official Beer Sponsor of Buffalo's Largest 80's Bash held earlier this summer in Lancaster, New York. Attendees at this event dressed to the era, including big hair, mini skirts, stilettos, tight jeans. snap bracelets, and parachute pants. The event featured performances by 80's stars Tiffany and Sugar Hill Gang. There were also 80's dance contests, an 80's celebrity look alike contest, and much more to take everyone back in time for this one night party!

Traditional Lager was the beer of choice at this event. Lager was introduced by Yuengling in 1987, making it an appropriate selection for all in attendance! Part of the proceeds from this event went to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. JDRF is dedicated to finding a cure and this event certainly helped out a great cause.

Yuengling joined over 100 other breweries in attendance, serving nearly 3000 thirsty fans. Summer is in full swing here in the northeast, but at the end of the month our thoughts at the Yuengling Gift Shop will be on a different season. On Friday, July 23, 2010, we will be having a Christmas in July event at America's Oldest Brewery on Mahantongo Street in Pottsville.

Upon arrival to the brewery, visitors will be greeted by Yuengling representatives cooking out on the grill! Also out front, our local Pottsville radio station, T-102, will be broadcasting live. They will be interviewing some of our team members, and giving away some prizes too. The Gift Shop will have a table set up outside offering special deals throughout the day.

Once inside the brewery, visitors can look forward to rewards just for shopping with us on July 23rd! Shoppers spending $20.00 or more in the store will be entered to win a Large Yuengling Bar Mirror. We will also be raffling off a Yuengling Neon Clock valued at $299! Tickets for the clock raffle will be sold for $1.00. The drawing for these items goes off at 1:00pm and you must be present to win. Shoppers who spend $75.00 or more in the store will receive a FREE Yuengling Eagle Snow Globe. All of these deals are valid on in-store purchases only on July 23, 2010. Yuengling was out at the Sunset Bay Beach Club located along the shore of Lake Erie in Chautauqua County New York. The event was held on June 18th and it was an excellent summer evening to enjoy Yuengling on the beach! Patrons enjoyed Lager and Light Lager cans on special, while listening to live music by John Valby. The Yuengling crew was spreading the word about our big summer program, where one luck fan will win a custom Yuengling Orange County Chopper! After a few hours at Doc Watson's, Lord Chesterfield and his court moved over to The Draught Horse in the heart of the Temple campus to close out the final Friday of Philly Beer Week. Yuengling and Draught Horse hosted a home brew contest in which contenders signed up in advance and brought their best home brew for a panel of Yuengling judges to taste. Judges included members of our Yuengling sales team, Lead Brewer John Callahan, and Lord Chesterfield!

While the judges did their best to determine a winner of the home brew competition, patrons at the bar enjoyed Yuengling specials on Lager, Light Lager, Black & Tan, Porter, and Lord Chesterfield Ale. Patrons enjoying Chesterfield Ale got to keep the glass and a lucky few were awarded Chetty tee shirts for being loyal to the brand! Lord Chesterfield made his way around the bar to talk with fans, and advise those who sought his wisdom. Yuengling was well represented at the brewers panel held on Thursday June 10th at Johnny Brenda's in Philadelphia. This Philly Beer Week event was a great chance for Philadelphia consumers to interact with knowledgeable individuals from several different breweries. Joe Six-Pack hosted the event and asked the brewers panel questions about competing brands and the changing industry on a whole.

The panel consisted of Jim Koch from Boston Beer Company, Phil Markowski from Southampton Publik House, Tim Kehoe from Yard's and our own Wendy Yuengling. Wendy contributed greatly to the panel by discussing and elaborating on the vital role that women are playing in the beer industry.

Johnny Brenda's was an excellent venue for the event. There were limited tickets sold for this event and and approximately 50 people attended. The Yuengling Heritage brands were available on tap for the evening and fans enjoyed Dark Brewed Porter and Chesterfield Ale while listening to the brewers discussion. Cherry Street Tavern hosted the Tuesday night Yuengling PBW promo and as you can see below, fans had a blast taking photos with the Lord Chesterfield standee. Cherry Street Tavern is known for their great menu featuring roast beef, roast pork, and chili. Tuesday night we paired some of these classic dishes with Yuengling products for patrons to enjoy. We coupled the roast beef dish with our Dark Brewed Porter and the roast pork with our hoppy Lord Chesterfield Ale. Monday may be the beginning of the work week, but Yuengling fans in Philly were out in full force for our promotions at the New Deck Tavern and Slainte. Both of these Irish bars are owned by the Boyle Family. The New Deck Tavern is a popular college bar, often filled with Drexel University and Penn students throughout the school year. The New Deck Tavern promo kicked off at 5pm and patrons enjoyed Irish pub fare along with a great selection of Yuengling. Then it was on to Slainte! The Boyle Family also owns this well known Irish bar, located on the corner of 30th & Market Sts. Slainte is an upscale Irish eatery with 25 beers on tap to go along with their great menu. The Yuengling promotions continued in Philadelphia on Saturday June 6th at O'Neals and Manny Browns. Lord Chesterfield made his second appearance of the week at O'Neals Pub from 1-4pm. Philly Beer Week is officially underway! The 3rd Annual Opening Tap ceremony was held on Friday June 4th at the Independence Visitor's Center in Philadelphia. Nearly 1000 thirsty Philadelphians came out to witness the ceremonial tapping of the first keg by Mayor Michael Nutter. As tradition goes, he used the "Hammer of Glory" to tap the first barrel. This hammer is passed along from bar to bar leading up to the event, and it even made its way to 12 Steps Down for the Yuengling after party! After the barrel was tapped, attendees enjoyed samples of many different brews from over 30 locals brewers. The Yuengling taps were busy all night as fans enjoyed Traditional Lager, Light Lager, Dark Brewed Porter, and Lord Chesterfield Ale. Many fans enjoyed their Ale while talking with Lord Chesterfield himself! America’s Oldest Brewery and Pavone use social media in campaign for Yuengling’s original brands, Lord Chesterfield Ale and Porter.

POTTSVILLE, PA (May 2010) – Two of America’s oldest beers are getting a marketing makeover with a few very modern twists.

D.G. Yuengling & Son, established in 1829 and known by many as America’s Oldest Brewery, has teamed with marketing and communications firm Pavone to promote the beer maker’s two original brews, Lord Chesterfield Ale and Yuengling Porter. Both brands have been brewed continuously for 181 years at the American owned and family operated facility.

For its Lord Chesterfield work, Pavone will be compensated on a pay-for-performance model, with the agency earning a portion of the profits from each case and keg of Lord Chesterfield Ale sold after June 2010.

“These are exciting and pivotal times for Yuengling. We’re growing very quickly, but we’re also working hard to stay true to our history and who we are as a brand,” said Yuengling president, Dick Yuengling, a fifth generation owner of the Pottsville, Pa.-based brewery. “Our Lord Chesterfield and Porter beers are a part of my family’s legacy. That’s a big reason why we decided to give them some special attention this year and give them the recognition they deserve.”

The Lord Chesterfield campaign, with its emphasis on social media, marks new territory for the flagship ale. Social media and other modern web-based communication channels will be used to bring the beer’s namesake, Lord Philip Stanhope, the 4th Earl of Chesterfield to life. Stanhope was an 18th century British statesman famous for frank and sometimes cynical advice he offered in a series of letters to his son.

The campaign will kick off on June 4 with a series of appearances by Lord Chesterfield himself during Philadelphia’s annual Philly Beer Week festival. Campaign’s online hub will be its Chesterfield Society website (http://www.chesterfieldsociety.com/), which will encourage fans to establish Chesterfield Society chapters in their communities. Lord Chesterfield’s appearances during Philly Beer Week will be tracked using a real-time, location-based tracking application on the Chesterfield Society website.

A blog, Facebook page, and Twitter presence will promote the appearances and give a voice to the man who has been silent since his passing in 1773. Public relations will also be used to support the public appearances and online outreach. Pavone’s digital media team has created campaigns for several food and beverage brands, which is one of the reasons Yuengling tapped the Pennsylvania-based marketing team to lead its latest effort.

“It’s not every day you get a chance to market one of the nation’s oldest brands using modern marketing tactics,” said Pavone President Michael Pavone. “With Lord Chesterfield, we’re promoting a product that’s one of the best kept secrets in the beer industry. Yuengling was well represented at the recent OMEGA trade show in West Virginia. OMEGA is the West Virginia Oil Marketers & Grocers Association. The OMEGA organization promotes and improves the business interests of those engaged in the petroleum marketing, retail grocery and convenience store industries within the state of West Virginia.

The trade show was held at Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, WV. The event kicked off with a golf outing on Tuesday, that was followed by a dinner reception. Before dinner, West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin III spoke to guests, along with WVU head basketball coach Bob Huggins. Also during the dinner, there was a silent auction which benefited the OMEGA WV Scholarship Fund. Guests had the opportunity to bid on a Yuengling 180th Anniversary Mirror signed by Dick Yuengling.

On Wednesday for the trade show, approximately 500 retailers walked the aisles to see what was new in the convenience store industry. At the Yuengling table, fans were able to sample Lager, Light Lager, Black & Tan, Lord Chesterfield Ale, and Porter. The Lager brand is extremely popular in West Virginia and this show was a great opportunity to sample and discuss the other great Yuengling brands with buyers. Attendees also learned more about the Orange County Chopper summer promotion while visiting the Yuengling table.

Yuengling recently attended the Atlanta Beverage trade show to spend some time with Atlanta retailers and sample our portfolio. Atlanta Beverage invited customers from both tavern and retail establishments to sample products and learn about upcoming promotions. The event was held at the 755 Club inside Turner Field and roughly 500 people attended. At the Yuengling table, retailers learned more about America's Oldest Brewery and got the details on the Yuengling Orange County Chopper promotion that is underway for the summer season. Retailers were excited to get involved with the OCC program and offer their customers the chance to win! At the Yuengling sampling table, attendees enjoyed Traditional Lager, Light Lager, and Black & Tan. In addition to these well known brands, we also sampled Lord Chesterfield Ale, an original from Yuengling that is just making its way into the Atlanta market. Retailers were excited about the Ale and customers in the Atlanta area can start looking for it in the coming weeks.

Recently the United crew took some time out of their schedule to visit America's Oldest Brewery. This was a special trip for several sales personnel who were heading to the Yuengling for the first time. The team stopped at the Pottsville brewery first for a tour led by Debbie Altobelli. After a brief luncheon and some Yuengling samples in the brewery rathskeller, they headed to the Mill Creek Yuengling facility for a behind the scenes look at our larger brewery. The group enjoyed their time in Pottsville, and event caught up with Dick Yuengling along the way!

It is supportive wholesalers like United of NEPA who are responsible for getting Yuengling from the brewery to the customers at retail location each day. Thank you for your support of the brands and we hope you come back soon!

YUENGLING DAY 2010

Over 200 golfers joined us at Hidden Valley Golf Course for the annual Yuengling Day event this past weekend. Hidden Valley is a gorgeous course tucked away in the Schuylkill County country side here in Pennsylvania. This annual event is open to the public, and anyone with a tee time can sign up to participate. Players received a Yuengling golf kit at sign up, which included an embroidered ball bag, a golf towel, and Yuengling tees. While on the course, players had the opportunity to win more Yuengling gear by topping the list for longest drive, closest to the pin, and closest to the line on select holes. We also had a Yuengling team out on the course handing out complimentary Yuengling products and prizes throughout the day. After completing their round, golfers enjoyed the weather at the pavilion where the Yuengling draught wagon was set up. The draught selection included Premium Beer, Traditional Lager, and Light Lager. Also at the pavilion, players had the opportunity to buy raffle tickets to win Yuengling prizes. Raffle proceeds benefited the local SPCA, and winners were pleasantly surprised when they finished their rounds and found out they were going home with a prize.

Yuengling and United Beverage of NEPA attended the Cigar International Festival held recently in the Poconos. The Split Rock Lodge in Lake Harmony, PA hosted approximately 3500 cigar enthusiasts for this sold out event. On Friday evening, the weekend kicked off with a Yuengling Night sponsored by the Cigar International Organization. Nearly 1100 fans attended this party, enjoying Traditional Lager and Lord Chesterfield Ale throughout the evening. Cigar enthusiasts were able to talk with Yuengling representatives at the event and learn more about the variety of brews in our portfolio and how they may compliment the cigar smoking experience. Following the Friday night kick off party, the remainder of the weekend featured exhibits from 40 of the biggest cigar makers and manufacturers around. There was live music, plenty of great food, and of course Yuengling beer!

The Glen Lock Mill in Jamesville, NY was the site of a Yuengling sampling event on April 23, 2010. Patrons enjoyed samples from 6-8pm and were able to learn more about a variety of brews in the Yuengling portfilio. The Glen Lock Mill is set on beautiful Butternut Creek, patrons can look forward to outdoor dining on the large deck, set to reopen shortly. The owner, Cali Bar, just recently transitioned the restaurant over from her father and is now proud to be the 4th Generation Bar to oversee the establishment. We had a great crowd for the sampling, there were many new and some familiar faces from the past. We sampled Traditional Lager and Dark Brewed Porter draught which are main stays at the restaurant. We also sampled Light Lager and Lord Chesterfield Ale bottles, two Yuengling products that are now available at the restaurant. We had a great response to these brews. We gave out Yuengling prizes throughout the evening as well!

Students in the Syracuse University Beer & Wine appreciation class wrapped up their semester with an important lesson on Yuengling Beer! Professor Tim Bar invited us into his classroom to share some information about the history and products of America's Oldest Brewery. Students got a great feel for the company as they watched a recently produced company video featuring interviews with several key members of the Yuengling team. They learned about the brewing process and the distinct characteristics of each of our brews. Students sampled Lager, Light Lager, Black & Tan, Porter, and Lord Chesterfield Ale. At the end of the class, students played Yuengling Trivia, and participants with the correct answers were awarded Yuengling shirts and flags. Yuengling and Champion Brands just wrapped up a 2 month Lager promotion in Kangaroo convenience stores in the Jacksonville, FL area. At the end of the Yuengling promotion, Adamec Harley Davidson organized a charity motorcycle ride called "Ride for Smiles." The ride was sponsored by Adamec, Kangaroo, and Yuengling. The ride helped raise money for Facing Futures, a charity that provides surgery's for children with severe facial deformity's caused during birth or from other traumatic reasons.

Ride for Smiles was a great success, with over 400 participants joining the police escorted ride around the Jacksonville area. 2 lucky riders went home with custom painted Yuengling helmets that were raffled off as part of the fundraising efforts. Other raffle prizes included gift certificates to Adamec Harley Davidson, and free Harley rentals from Adamec. Applebees provided the food for the event, and riders enjoyed Yuengling responsibly along with their meal. When all was said and done, over $35,000 was raised for the charity! On Friday Night April 16, 2010 Yuengling was honored to be the Official Beer Sponsor the the United States Field Artillery's Annual Saint Barbara's Day Ball at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York. The Field Artillery Branch, as part of the U.S. Army, was founded in 1775. The Field Artillery has been "Creating the Thunder" since 1775 and America's Oldest Brewery, was honored to be a part of their annual celebrations.

The Order of Saint Barbara is a Military Honor Society for the U.S. Army Field Artillery and Air Defense Artillery. Saint Barbara is known as the Patron Saint of Artillerymen. The event was attended by the many Officers and NCO's of the West Point Field Artillery branch, their guests, and also the many Senior Cadets of West Point who have chosen to branch to the artillery service. The event included the time honored Grog Ceremony and also the Punchbowl Ceremony, in which Yuengling was one of the main ingredients. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Major Cherry, who attended to the Punchbowl Ceremony and hosted the entire event. The Molly Pitcher Award was given to 2 Officer's spouses. This award recognizes individuals who have voluntarily contributed in a significant way to the improvement of the Field Artillery Community.

It was a great night of celebration and camaraderie enjoyed by all and we at Yuengling wish all of the best for the soon to be graduating Cadets, NCO's, and Officers as they head to the next stop in their Army careers in keeping our country safe. Matt Astill and the crew from The Australian Bar in New York City took some time to come visit America's Oldest Brewery last week. The Australian Bar & Restaurant is located at 20 West 38 Street in New York City and is a great bar & restaurant offering a unique menu featuring Australia cuisine. The staff from the bar came to tour the brewery and had an excellent time, led by Tour Guide Debbie Altobelli and accompanied by Marketing Manger Lou Romano. They learned a lot about the history of Yuengling while in Pottsville, and even got to meet Mr. Yuengling along the way. Patrons at The Australian may soon have additional Yuengling selections to choose from at the bar, as the staff was introduced to some Yuengling brews previously unknown to them. This annual concert event is held on the first tee of the Augusta driving range in conjunction with the Masters Golf Tournament. This year the Goo Goo Dolls and Colbie Caillat headlined the show, while local artists: Will McCranie and Jacob Beltz, and South Carolina Super Group Occasional Milk Shake also performed. Yuengling was recently invited to take part in a beer pairing dinner at The Club at The Strand in Naples, FL. Located on the west coast of the sunshine state, The Strand is a family club featuring a 27 hole golf course, a tennis & fitness complex, a spa, and a dining room serving award-winning cuisine. Of all these amenities, it was the superior clubhouse dining that brought Yuengling to The Strand on the evening of May 18th.

The head chef at the club created the 5 course menu shown below, to be paired with 5 Yuengling products and served to dinner guests.

Yuengling sponsored the Hooter's Diamond Dugout for the Philadelphia Phillies spring training game on March 31, 2010. The "Food Dude" Kevin Roberts recently visited the Philadelphia, PA market and joined us for a series of Wegmans samplings. Shoppers at the Collegeville, Downingtown, and Warrington Wegmans locations got to sample Kevin's famous wings along with several brands from the Yuengling portfolio. Shoppers enjoyed talking food with Kevin while enjoying his signature Franks Red Hot wings. Wegmans is one of a few grocery chains that is retailing beer in the state of Pennsylvania and we appreciated the opportunity to sample at these locations. Basketball fans at the Buffalo Brew Pub in New York were treated to a Yuengling March madness promotion recently. Fans enjoyed Yuengling Lager and Bock pint specials while watching their teams battle it out in the annual NCAA tournament. During breaks in the basketball action, patrons played Yuengling trivia for prizes, including Yuengling hoops tees and hats. At the end of the evening there was also a drawing for a Yuengling fleece jacket. Al's Wine & Whiskey Lounge in Armory Square, Syracuse, NY, hosted a Yuengling Lager and Bock sampling from 10-11:30pm last Thursday night. Yuengling fans enjoyed playing Yuengling trivia for the chance to win shirts, hats, and koozies. The Bock Beer was a big hit with the crowd too! There were many college basketball fans at the event, who were visiting the Syracuse area to watch the NCAA Men's Basketball games that were played at the nearby Carrier Dome.

This event also served as a birthday celebration for local Onondaga Beverage representative Tony Brooks. Tony does a great job with the Yuengling brands in this region and we were proud to celebrate with him at Al's!

Yuengling recently participated in a beer pairing dinner at The Greystone Restaurant in Pottsville, PA. Tickets to the event were $50 and the donation benefited the Avenues Foundation. The Avenues is a charitable organization committed to helping individuals who have physical and/or acquired disabilities. They were originally founded as United Cerebral Palsy, and have been serving the Schuylkill County community since 1952. 65 tickets were pre-sold for this event and guests had an excellent time enjoying the delicious dishes that were prepared for the evening. The dinner featured three courses, each paired with a Yuengling product which was served in the corresponding Yuengling glassware. The complete menu can be seen in the images below. Before each course; Executive Chef Jerry Labooty explained the dish that was being served and Lead Yuengling Brewer John Callahan spoke about the unique characteristics of the Yuengling product that was paired with it.

BEACH BASH 2010

Yuengling recently held an employee and wholesaler appreciation day at Big Boulder in the Poconos to thank all of our loyal workers and wholesaler partners. Around 250 guests attended the event, held on March 20th. It was the first day of spring and the weather couldn't have been nicer! Guests and their families were able to ski and snowboard compliments of Yuengling for the entire day. The official tubing runs may have been closed, but the kids still had a blast at the Yuengling Olympics, held mid-day in front of the lodge. At 5pm, guests and their families were treated to a dinner buffet in the lodge, where they enjoyed live music by Jimmy & The Parrots.

This annual event continues to grow each year, and we thank everyone who came out. Thank you to United Beverage for doing a great job merchandising the lodge and ensuring that all Yuengling brands were available at the bar for this event.

The event was held outdoors on the first day of spring and the weather was perfect for the crowd to enjoy their food and drinks by the water. The crew cooking on the grill was busy all day long, and the food selections for the day included roasted oysters, barbecue, and steamed shrimp. At the Yuengling tent, fans enjoyed $2.00 pints. Check out the pictures from the St. Patrick's Day party held at Tavern 99 in Buckhead in Atlanta, GA. The event was held on Wednesday, March 17th. Party attendees had their choice of $4 mugs of Lager, Light Lager and Bock or they could drink $3 bottles of Lager, Light Lager, and Black & Tan. The Light Lager bottles were a big hit with the crowd and the tavern sold out early on in the night. The event had two bands outside under the tent, an acoustic singer inside, and a late night DJ. When the celebration was finished, Tavern 99 reported going through 21 Yuengling kegs and 25 cases of Yuengling bottles.

SHAMROCK MARATHON 2010

The Yuengling Shamrock Marathon was held March 19th - 21st in Virginia Beach, VA. The weather could not have been better for the races and activities. The event kicked off on Friday at the Expo where runners picked up their race packets and signed in. In addition to all the "Yuengling Shamrock" swag that all participants received, there was also a huge selection of high end running apparel available for purchase, which also included the "Yuengling Shamrock" logo. The Expo also hosted many other vendors showcasing running apparel and merchandise.

This was the 4th year that Yuengling has sponsored the Shamrock Marathon. The event brings 90,000-100,000 people to Virginia Beach for the weekend and supports several charities including Operation Smile, Preston's March, The VA Beach Sheriff's Office Community Fund and several others. There are participants from all 50 states that take part in the event which includes an 8K, 1/2 Marathon, Marathon and two races for kids.

The finish line celebration included live entertainment on Saturday and Sunday. There was Yuengling Lager, Light Lager, and Seasonal Bock Beer available for runners and spectators to enjoy throughout the weekend. Murphy's Irish Pub was also at the finish line celebration both days with beef stew for the runners.
