PUNXSUTAWNEY'S FAVORITE FISH

Check out the press release from earlier this month:

ICELANDIC® YUENGLING LAGER HADDOCK: PUNXSUTAWNEY'S FAVORITE FISH AT GROUND HOG DAY CELEBRATION

Icelandic® USA, Inc. launched its new seafood line of Yuengling® Lager battered haddock portions in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania at the 2009 Ground Hog Day celebration. Icelandic® sampled free Yuengling® Lager haddock portions on Barclay Square in Punxsutawney during the three day celebration on Saturday, January 31 – Monday, February 2. Icelandic® also gave away a Yuengling® Lager key chain with each sample.

Crowds gathered at Icelandic’s booth that stood out with a banner that read “Haddock from Iceland, Lager from Pennsylvania.” There, people got their very first taste of Yuengling Lager haddock. “Absolutely the best fish I’ve ever tasted”, said Tim Jenson, who drove from Cleveland Ohio with his family to take part in the Ground Hog Day festivities. “The combination of the white flaky haddock and the Yuengling Lager batter is perfection”, said Jenson. “We had an overwhelming positive response to the product. People kept asking us ‘where can I buy this?’” said Jim Papadakis, Director of Marketing with Icelandic®.

Yuengling® Lager haddock, available only to the foodservice trade, is set to appear on restaurant menus across Pennsylvania and other markets. In keeping with the legendary quality heritage of Icelandic® products, the new seafood line begins with special hand cut fillet portions of Icelandic’s wild caught, longline-method haddock. Then they are dipped in Icelandic’s “gold standard” signature beer batter coating which has been formulated to incorporate the distinct taste of the popular Yuengling Lager.

NY WINTER PROMO’S

The Yuengling promo team in New York State has been hard at work all winter long getting the word out about the winter getaway to Lake Placid. Below you can see pictures from several promo events that have been happening around Rochester, NY.
Fans enjoyed tall glasses of Lager at Knuckle’s Sports Bar in Rochester recently. The Yuengling snow bunnies were in attendance giving away Yuengling winter gear and spreading the word about the Lake Placid text-to-win contest.
For Yuengling fans who like to extend their weekend into Monday, we were out at Buffalo Wild Wings on Groundhog Day giving out more winter gear! Patrons enjoyed tall Lager draughts and answered sports trivia to win Yuengling gear.
Thank you to the Wright Wisner promo team for doing such a great job with the winter program this year!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

It is the middle of February already and the 14th is fast approaching. Valentine’s Day is typically associated with cards, candy, flowers, and gifts. How does Yuengling fit into this day that is set aside for the appreciation of your special someone? Well, we know our loyal Yuengling fans “Love” our beer, so why not include it into your Valentine’s Day plans?

As your plans this Saturday may take you in many different directions, keep Yuengling in mind as you head off hoping for the perfect evening. If you are planning to go out with your special someone for a candle lit dinner, forget the wine menu, our Porter goes great with many food dishes. If you are off to enjoy the evening with friends at a Valentine’s Day party, bring your host a gift you know they will appreciate, a case of Lager for all to enjoy! If last minute shopping is still on your list, a case of Yuengling presented in the spirit of the day is a great gift that will be appreciated and can be shared too!

Whatever your plans may be for the weekend, Valentine’s Day related or not, we wish you a safe and enjoyable weekend. As always, please enjoy Yuengling responsibly.

PHILLIES SHARE VICTORY

In 2008 the Philadelphia Phillies won the 104th World Series in game 5 over the Tampa Bay Rays. This was the Phillies second World Series win, coming 28 years after the first. In January 2009, the Phillies organization decided to share the joy of this championship with their fans. The team is sending the championship trophy on a tour so Phillies fans have a chance to actually see the trophy to accompany their memory of this 2008 win. In appreciation to WPPA, a local Pottsville radio station, the trophy made a stop in Pottsville, home of America’s Oldest Brewery! The trophy was on display at Maroon’s Sports Bar in downtown Pottsville. This event drew a crowd estimated at nearly 400 people. Fans were lined up down the block for their chance to see the trophy. Once fans got their view of the trophy upstairs, they enjoyed the Phillies atmosphere with their favorite Yuengling products at the bar. Maroon’s offers all of the Yuengling products in bottles, and six Yuengling products on draught. The Philly Phanatic accompanied the trophy on this visit, along with Phillies broadcaster Tom McCarthy. Congratulations to the Phillies on their accomplishment this season, and thank you to everyone who made this event possible!

BLUE MT. BREW BASH

Spending the day on the slopes is a great way to spend a winter day in Pennsylvania. You can make that great day even better with Yuengling in the lodge after you are finished on the mountain for the day. In January, Yuengling teamed up with United Beverage for the Blue Mountain Brew Bash. Guests at Blue Mountain can always find Lager and Light Lager on tap in the lodge, and for this event they were pleasantly surprised to find Lord Chesterfield Ale on tap as well. Yuengling fans who were thirsty for Ale received a free Chesterfield Ale glass with their draught purchase. There were also Yuengling drink specials and giveaways for the day. Fans had the chance to get fleece Yuengling headbands and Yuengling long sleeve tees throughout the afternoon. One lucky Yuengling drinker even got to take home a Yuengling Snowboard! Thank you to United Beverage for their help with this successful day on the mountain.
If you missed out on the Brew Bash, you still have two more chances to win a Yuengling Snowboard at Blue Mountain. We will be sponsoring happy hour on Friday February 13th and Friday March 6th from 4-6 pm. There will be draught specials for these happy hours, and a Yuengling Snowboard will be given away at each event. We invite you to come join us at Blue Mountain in Palmerton, PA.

PHILA. ALE SAMPLING

The Yuengling team in Philadelphia is hard at work spreading the word about Lord Chesterfield Ale. Ale has been a part of the Yuengling portfolio since our founder D.G. Yuengling began brewing 180 years ago. Chesterfield Ale has always been available in cans and bottles, but has just recently made its return to the market in draught form. After the successful reintroduction of Ale on draught in September 2008, we are expecting 2009 to be a great year for the product. Recently, we were at a fine Irish establishment in Philadelphia called The Bard’s. This bar proudly serves both Lord Chesterfield Ale and Traditional Lager draught and they were an excellent host for our Ale sampling. Yuengling fans in attendance received LCA samples and tee shirts. If you haven’t yet tried our Lord Chesterfield Ale, we invite you to try it. It certainly lives up to the quality you would expect from Yuengling. Thank you to Frank Altadonna for organizing the sampling and also to Gary from The Bard’s for his support as well. You can visit The Bard’s website at http://www.bardsirishbar.com/. Enjoy the event pictures below!
