SINGLES MINGLE
The Yuengling team in New York partnered with local Buffalo radio station 92.9 Jack FM this month for an event called Singles Mingle. The event was held at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in downtown Buffalo. Jack FM did a great job promoting the event, as there were over 1500 people in attendance. Jack FM brought them in and Yuengling specials kept attendees happy all night. The event featured both Lager and Light Lager bottles and our products were the hit of the evening. In a room full of new faces, it is nice to know you have a good friend there for support! Yuengling is delighted to be that friend! We hope everyone in attendance had a good time. Thank you to Jack FM for promoting the event as well as Mike Berardini for his help with this event. Enjoy the pictures below.

A SITE TO SEE (Part 2)
Part 2: The numbers don’t lie!
The next stop on our blogger’s tour of America’s Oldest Brewery is the bottle shop at the Pottsville plant. The fillers in this department typically run for 9.5 hours Monday-Friday. This means, when you come and visit the brewery on a weekday, the bottle shop is in full operation for both the 10 am and the 1:30 pm tours. The bottles arrive at the brewery already in their cases. There is a conveyer belt system that sends the empty bottles to the shop and brings the full cases back to the warehouse. The bottles are unpacked, washed, filled, pasteurized, labeled, and repacked in this department.
The bottle shop runs either cans or bottles everyday. The machinery shares a line that leads to the pasteurizer, making it impossible to run both cans and bottles at the same time. When you think about the time you spend enjoying your Yuengling after you open it; the speed at which that same bottle is filled is amazing. The bottle filler fills 452 twelve ounce bottles in one minute! At this rate the bottle shop is able to produce 10,735 cases in a 9.5 hour shift. In 2006 Yuengling built a new room adjacent to the bottle shop and installed a new can filler. The can filler is even faster than the bottle filler! Filling 775 cans per minute, the shop can produce over 18,000 cases of cans in a 9.5 hour shift.
To come see this machinery in operation and get the full story on the bottle shop, visit the brewery for a free tour. Pottsville tour times are 10am and 1:30pm Monday thru Friday. Saturday hours begin in April and run through December. All visitors are required to wear completely closed footwear, no exceptions.

PORTER SEASON
Winter is upon us in the Northeast and Philadelphia has the temperatures to prove it! The winter season is traditionally associated with heartier beers that are rich in flavor. Yuengling’s answer to the cold weather comes to life in our Black & Tan and Porter brands. Getting a case of Yuengling for the house is a great idea for those nights spent by the fire with friends and family. But for those of you in the Philadelphia area who want to venture out, there are some great things going on in the marketplace! To help pass the long cold winter months, Yuengling sponsored a Porter sampling earlier this month at The Fox and The Hound in Center City Philadelphia. The turnout was good and patrons enjoyed Porter pints all evening. Don’t worry if you missed out on the sampling. You can join the fine folks at The Fox and The Hound and enjoy Yuengling Lager and Porter drafts at the bar anytime. If you are looking for a place to start your weekend off right in the city, they host $2.50 Porter Pint Night every Friday from 5-7p.m.
Thank You to Frank Altadonna for his help with this recent sampling.

A SITE TO SEE (Part 1)
Part 1: Pottsville Brew House
Are you missing out? Our historic Museum and Gift Shop was host to nearly 28,000 visitors in 2008! Yuengling invites everyone to come to Pottsville and tour America’s Oldest Brewery. In a series of blog posts, I would like to share with you some of the sites that you will see when you come to the brewery.
We will start off with a look at America’s Oldest Brew House. After all, this is where it all begins! The brew house at the Pottsville brewery is very unique. It is a warm and inviting atmosphere, and you can feel the history around you as you notice the murals painted on the walls and the stained glass ceiling suspended above the brew kettle. The murals on the walls were created by an artist from Berwick, PA in 1983. There are three murals. Two of them depict historic brewery departments, and the third depicts Yuengling’s “Winner Beer” from the 1930’s. The stained glass ceiling was installed in 1888 to cut down on the sun glare that existed with the original copper kettles. The ceiling was removed only once, when the copper kettles were replaced with stainless steel kettles. The brew house operates every morning, Monday thru Friday. Often times the kettles are still full when the 10a.m. tour comes through this department.

Yuengling was spreading the holiday spirit in Georgia recently. Ou La La in LaGrange, Georgia partnered with Yuengling to offer a complimentary beer tasting. The tasting saw many loyal Yuengling fans who have been anticipating the arrival of Yuengling in their home state for quite some time; as well as newcomers who got their first taste of our fine beers. DECK THE HULLS!
Florida is parading their holiday spirit on the waterways again this year! Yuengling was proud to sponsor the Schooner Wharf Bar’s 18th Annual Lighted Boat Parade. Spectators from all over the Florida Key’s and Key West area came out to witness this magical holiday event. The event started off right at the Friday evening Captains’ Meeting, on Schooner Wharf Bar’s upper deck. Parade participants were provided with complimentary Yuengling at this pre-event meeting.
The parade got underway on Saturday December 13th at 8p.m. A variety of vessels participated in the event, including: fishing vessels, sailing ships, private yachts, and charter boats. The sky is the limit for the creative mariners who light up their boats in hopes of winning some of the generous prize packs that are awarded. Decorative themes from years past include: the Grinch, Santa’s sleigh, menorahs, doves of peace, gingerbread men, and many more. This year’s cash and prizes totaled over $20,500 in value. The top twelve boats were awarded with a variety of prize packs. The lucky top three winners received a case of Yuengling Lager in their prize pack. Yuengling would like to thank the Schooner Wharf Bar for hosting this event. Also, thank you to all the participants who dedicated their time to decorate their boats for the enjoyment of those in attendance.
