Yuengling teamed up with local radio station, 100.1 The Bulldog in the Athens, GA market this summer to award one lucky Yuengling fan a Limited Edition Martin Guitar. Kris Harris and Evan Delaney, of the Punch The Clock Morning Show, lead the on air search for qualifiers. They gave callers the opportunity to play "Name that Tune" live on the show. Callers who correctly identified songs from the guitar riff they heard, were qualified for the grand prize.
The Bulldog and Yuengling also held several promotions at local bars and taverns to get the word out about the guitar giveaway. At these promotions, patrons had the chance to compete against one another in guitar hero contests. The high scorer at each of the promotions got VIP tickets for Athfest, a concert held in downtown Athens on June 27th. These winners also got to compete for the Nintendo WII game system at the final event.
On June 27th, at Athfest, it was time for the guitar to go home with its new owner. Kris and Evan from the morning show took the stage and contacted the winner via cell phone. Sky Bennett rushed the stage, hurdling the barricade that was set up around the Yuengling VIP tent. After accepting his prize, he proudly held the guitar high above his head for thousands to see.
