YUENGLING BOCK BEER

Check out the official 2010 Bock Beer press release:

Yuengling Bock Beer to Return in 2010

Pottsville, PA, January 2010 – Last year, D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc., celebrated their 180th Anniversary by re-introducing a late-winter seasonal classic, Yuengling Bock Beer. Available only in draft, it was the first time a Bock Beer was produced by Yuengling in nearly 40 years. The product was so well received, it will make a triumphant return in both kegs and bottles in January, 2010.

“Local taverns and pubs in our distribution area will once again become a destination for customers to enjoy this product on tap,” commented Lou Romano, Marketing Manager. “Last year, there were many loyal customers looking for Bock in bottles to take home and enjoy with family and friends, but it was not available. There’s a great deal of consumer excitement that it’s coming back in draft and package.”

With a deep amber color, pleasing malt base, and a refreshing hop aroma, Yuengling Bock Beer will be offered in 6-pack (12 oz) bottles, ¼ barrels, and ½ barrels starting January 18, 2010, and will last for approximately 10-12 weeks.

The bottle label and package design is based on actual Yuengling Bock Beer artwork from 1941. It can be found on display in the Yuengling Museum and Gift Shop in Pottsville, PA.

why not in cases?!?! We live in PA - we can't buy beer in six packs at the grocery stores - are distributors selling six packs?!?!

Yuengling Brewery said...

The bottles will be offered in a case of 24, that is packed in 4-6Packs. This means that you will be able to purchase the beer by the full case at PA distributors who carry the product.

Thanks for reading, start asking your local retailers about Bock now so they get it in for you.

Please put that logo on some t shirts to sell in the gift shop.

Bock t-shirts, hats, and glassware will certainly be available for a limited time from the Yuengling Gift Shop. If you don't see it online be sure to call and ask.

Thanks for reading and enjoy Bock!

Is it avail in Central Pa yet?

Bock is leaving the brewery by the truckload this week, so you should see it in your favorite retail locations soon! Be sure to ask about it so that the store owners are aware there is a demand.

Thanks for reading, enjoy the Bock!

I'M A REGULAR YUENGLING BLACK AND TAN CUSTOMER. ON THE WAY BACK TO THE USUAL B & T SHELF IN MY REGULAR DISTRIBUTOR, I SAW A SKID OF YUENGLING BOCK BEER. THE OWNER'S WIFE, ALSO AN EMPLOYEE SIAD SHE HAD TRIED IT AND IT WAS AN EXCELLENT BEER. BEING A YUENGLING CUSTOMER FOR MANY YEARS, I FIGURED I WOULD TRY IT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A FEW DOLLARS MORE THAN MY USUAL. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!! AFTER ONE OR TWO I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE FLAVOR, EVEN THOUGH I LIKE THE DARKER BEERS LIKE B & T OR PORTER. IT WOULD BE ASHAME TO ONLY PRODUCE THIS VERY FINE BEER ON A LIMITED BASIS.

Yes it will be available in Maryland.

The Bock rocks.
Now my #1 winter beer.
Why not produce/distribute in fall also?

I've tried a lot of beers and regard myself as something of a beer snob. I have to say I look forward to a possible future where Bock Beer moves from a seasonal to a regular brew in the Yuengling line up. If it was sold year round it would definitely be my staple beer. I think it's well rounded and full flavored. Perfect!

Dear Yuengling Brewery,

I've been searching all over the greater Tampa Bay area and have yet to find the Bock available at any of the larger retail locations (Total Wine, ABC) as of this post!

HELP! Could you please tell me who's the distributor in my area to contact?

I NEED to find the BOCK before the end of March!!!

WOW!!! I just picked up a sixer of this today. My distributor just got this a few hours before I got there. The retro labeling was the first thing that caught my eye, really cool. This beer is awesome! I'm going to go back and pick up a few cases. I love Black & Tan, and this is right there with it. Please don't stop making this! This definitely should be a Yuengling regular.

John in Tampa-

Bock Beer will hit your market sometime next week. Total Wine will carry it as soon as it is available. You can also find it in Publix, but not until March.

Thank you for your patience and enthusiasm about the brand.

Good job Dick! I just picked up my first case of Bock, very unique taste, almost like you combined Lager & Chesterfield ale together. This will be a regular in my house as long as you keep brewing it. Thanks for bringing back an old classic.

I'm a Schuylkill county resident, located only 20 miles from the Yuengling Brewery in Pottsville. My father has been telling me stories of Yuengling Bock Beer for the last 30 years. He laways said it was a seasonal brew that came out once a year. He would make mention of the goat's picture and that it was only available as draft back then. The other part of his story was that in the Spring of the year, Yuengling would clean their vats of the carmelized material and this would be the base the beer was made from. Does anyone know if this may be true?

Yuengling Brewery said...

The tale about the kettles only being cleaned in the spring and the remnants used for the brew dates back to medieval times when this was indeed the case. Here at Yuengling however, the kettles are cleaned daily!

Thanks for sharing, enjoy the brew.

I had been away from the country and just picked up a six pack from the local liquor store. Pretty good beer. Although recommend having it not too cold.
