The 3rd annual Yuengling Lake Placid Winter Getaway took place on March 12-14, 2010 in Lake Placid, NY. It was a perfect weekend, with snow still on the ground and the sun shining brightly in the sky. Over night accommodations were provided to our guests at Adirondack High Peaks Resort, where every room had a break taking view. Winners of our NY state text to win program came from all over the state to enjoy the weekend.
The event kicked off with a meet and greet on Friday night, where everyone picked up their Olympic Passports. These passes grant access to the Olympic venues operated by the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) including the unforgettable site of the Miracle on Ice which happened 30 years ago this year! Nightly Yuengling promotions ran through out the town of Lake Placid on Friday and Saturday, and there were some great prizes at these events including Yuengling t-shirts, hats, digital cameras, fleeces and snowboards.
After touring the Olympic Jumping Complex it was time to kick off the Saturday competition. Guests headed to the Olympic Sports Complex for two and three person Bobsled competitions, and also an individual crazy skeleton competition.
Stuart Hemsley and Mary Catherine Spinelli calculated the official times and awarded the Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals to all the winners as we celebrated over dinner in the 1980 Rink - Herb Brooks Arena. Ben Dawes and Brittany defended there 2009 medal, bringing the Gold, and the bragging rights, for Bobsled back to Utica, NY for one more year.
