BOCK BEER

In celebration of our 180th Anniversary year, the marketplace will see one of the first seasonal offerings from the Yuengling Brewery in many years. Yuengling has produced a Bock Beer in its long and storied past, and we have now reinvented that product for limited release in 2009. The new brew is dark brown in color and offers exceptional flavor that lives up to the quality Yuengling drinkers have grown to expect.

The artwork coupled with this seasonal brew is a direct re-creation of Yuengling signage from 1941. The original piece is on display in the Pottsville gift shop museum along with other historic Bock labels, bottles, and small pieces of point of sale. Most of these materials are from the 1930’s, 40’s, and 50’s.

Yuengling Bock Beer will be offered in ½ barrels only, beginning in late February and lasting for approximately 8-10 weeks. Let’s all raise a pint of Yuengling Bock and celebrate the 180th Anniversary year!

My buddy tasted the Bock in Upstate NY and said it's the best Yuengling beer ever. We're Chesterfield Ale fans, but he said the Bock is very tasty.

I would like to sample this. Since it's not available in 1/4 kegs to take home, where in the Lehigh Valley can I taste this?

It is great to see all of the excitement about the new brew! Bock Beer shipped last week, and will be popping up at locations throughout the market soon. It is up to the individual bar owners as to where it will be carried. Ask for it wherever you enjoy Lager and they will be able to tell you if they have ordered the product.

Tasted the Bock at the Tipsy Turtle (Wilkes-Barre area)

Had the Bock beer the other day on draft was sad to find out it is not avalible in bottle in stores as I had rushed out to buy a case!!! Might it be avalible in bottle in the future?

We usually do not have great beer here in Alabama with our limited alcohol content law. (Up to 6%).
On Tap Sports Grill here in Birmingham has it. Quite tasty I must say!

I had Bock at World of Beer in Tampa and i have to say that out of all of the beers i've tasted, which is many, this has to be one of the best.

that sweet start and that nice slight taste of hops on the backend is absolutley fantastic. other beers go a little overboard on the hops but you guys nailed it.

it just goes to show that with age comes experience and like the great Biergartens of Munich, you guys at Yuengling are entering that stage of mythic quality.

thanks,
Big Dave, the World of Beer cook

Excited to taste the experience of a true old school bock circa 1940’s.
What a real treat!. So many micros have re-invented this style. I’m happy to sample the real one. Bring back the Old School beers of the early 1900’s
I wish you another 150 years of continued success!

I bought Yuengling Bock Beer in Huntington, WV. Try it if get a chance! It's fantastic! I really hope we'll see it offered as a non-seasonal beer. I bought mine at Krogers and will stop again tomorrow to buy more.

Stu said...

My understanding is Bock beer is only available in Feb - March because this is whe the breweries get ready to shut down to clean their vessels. Bock Beer comes off at the bottom of the beer vessel. This is why it is dark and strong and verrry good. Thirty years ago it used to be very inexpensive compared to regular brew. Now everyone wants it so it cost more.

Yuengling Brewery said...

Stu,

Traditionally that is the story behind Bock Beer. In modern day breweries however, the kettles and tanks are cleaned regularly after every use. Glad you enjoy it!
